Denise Smith Cline is an active member of the firm's litigation and labor and employment practice.  She has focused her litigation practice in employment law and health care issues, defending claims in state and federal court and before a variety of agencies.  Her employment law experience includes statutory discrimination claims, wage and hour issues, unemployment compensation, wrongful and retaliatory discharge claims, negligent supervision and emotional distress claims.  She also handles contract disputes involving covenants not to compete, severance, employment and confidentiality agreements.  Her practice includes a significant counseling component, advising clients in the review of employment manuals, policies and procedures and a broad range of compliance issues.

Ms. Cline has litigated a number of medical malpractice cases and other health care related cases in recent years.  Her other litigation experience has involved cases in a wide range of subject areas including insurance regulation and coverage disputes, real property, unfair and deceptive trade practices, lender liability, and administrative practice and appeals.

Ms. Cline practiced with Moore & Van Allen, PLLC from 1985-2003 where she was an equity partner.  She also has served as a Senior Lecturing Fellow at Duke University School of Law.
