GREENSBORO, N.C. — Clara Cottrell, an attorney in Smith Moore Leatherwood's Greensboro office, recently received the Triad Business Journal's "40 Leaders Under Forty" award. This award honors Cottrell's success as a leader within Smith Moore Leatherwood and the community.
Cottrell is a member of the firm's corporate group, focusing her practice on intellectual property and business law. She volunteers with the NCBA NC LEAP program where she advises low-wealth entrepreneurs with intellectual property concerns such as patent, trademark and copyright protection. She also actively serves on the program's steering committee. Cottrell is involved in the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Science and Technology Law and currently serves on the book publishing board. She has co-chaired several committees and chaired a task force for the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA) Young Lawyers Division. Cottrell graduated from Wake Forest University's School of Law in 2007 and continues to serve the university as a mentor and member of the law school's Board of Visitors.
On February 17, 2012, Cottrell will receive an official recognition during the "40 Leaders Under Forty" event at the Embassy Suites Hotel. The Triad Business Journal's "40 Leaders Under Forty" award honors 40 young leaders each year who have demonstrated significant business achievement and community involvement.
