Jr.
Jim Exum, after retiring as Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court in December 1994, returned to the firm as counsel on January 1, 1996.
Mr. Exum leads the Appellate Practice Group. In addition to supervising and assisting other lawyers with all aspects of appeals in state and federal courts, he personally participates in writing briefs and making oral arguments before appellate and trial courts on legal issues. He works with other lawyers at the trial level in identifying and preserving legal questions likely to be determined on appeal.
