A trial lawyer with experience in a wide variety of cases, Steve Petersen has litigated many criminal cases at the trial level and civil cases at the trial and appellate level. In doing so, Steve has obtained Martindale-Hubbell's top ("AV") Peer Review Rating.
In criminal matters, Steve has represented corporate executives who have been the subjects of grand jury investigations and/or who have also been charged with criminal offenses. Some of those alleged offenses include: structuring financial transactions; violations of the Clean Harbors Act; money laundering; tax evasion; and embezzlement.
In civil matters, Steve has represented business entities as both plaintiffs and defendants. Some of Steve's experience includes defending a corporate executive in a multidistrict class action antitrust matter that involves allegations of price fixing and customer allocation agreements.
In addition to his trial practice, Steve has argued cases before the North Carolina Court of Appeals, and, after obtaining a petition for discretionary review, before the North Carolina Supreme Court. Steve also appears regularly before North Carolina Governmental Agencies and Professional Licensing Boards.
