Mr. Rutledge handles the defense of a variety of employment disputes, including claims for wrongful discharge, sexual harassment, and discrimination in violation of Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Equal Pay Act.  Mr. Rutledge represents employers before administrative agencies including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the South Carolina Human Affairs Commission, and the South Carolina Employment Security Commission.

Mr. Rutledge drafts employment handbooks and related policies, employment contracts, non-compete agreements, and related employment documents, and he counsels clients on compliance with a variety of federal and state employment laws and regulations, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and wage and hour laws.

Mr. Rutledge also litigates business disputes, including claims for breaches of contract, unfair competition, tortious interference with contract, and claims arising under the South Carolina Trade Secrets Act.

Before attending law school, Mr. Rutledge served in the United States Army in the Adjutant General Corps and is a veteran of Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Mr. Rutledge is a frequent speaker on a variety of employment related issues.
